Obituary

The greatest promotion was received today as Jeanne L. Overton was promoted to glory by her Heavenly Father. She was born August 4, 1924 in Huntington, W.Va., to William R. and Anna G. O’Keefe Overton. Jeanne Overton was a Salvationist for many years. She was enrolled as a soldier of The Salvation Army in Huntington, W.Va., at a very young age. She was a wonderful Christian person, her favorite scripture was John 14:13 – And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the son. She attended the Salvation Army in Ashland for many years after moving to Ashland. She was very active in the church, she loved to attend and was a member of the home league until her recent illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Violet M. Overton, Dorothy E. Overton, and Mildred Overton; and three brothers, Bramwell W. Overton, William F. Overton, and Phillip W. Overton. Survivors include Scott and Ann Cron with whom she lived during her sickness and she promoted as her family. Majors Garnett and Tim Bartram of Flatwoods, KY. Jeanne leaves behind a host of loving friends; Pauline McClave, Sgt. Majors Jimmy and Sara Skinner, Chris Wolfe, and Gary Chaffins in which she loved, alone with her Community Hospice team, Kristy Hall, Desteny Scott, Samantha Spencer, Teresa Watts. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2 PM at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Cpl. Sgt. Major Jimmy Skinner and Major Owen Gillium.
