Obituary

DALE EUGENE BURROWS, 81, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. He was born in Huntington on September 22, 1936, a son of the late Elzie Monroe and Sara Ella Burrows. Dale was preceded in death by his late wife of 61 years, Cecilia Powers Burrows. He is survived by two daughters, Colleen Harker (Richard) of Huntington, and Loretta Hayes (Mark) of Huntington; five grandchildren, Andrew Harker, Kristen Harker Schneider, Allison Harker, Rebecca Hayes and Sarah Hayes Navy; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Dale was preceded in death by four siblings, Thelma (Herman) Mace, Elzie “Junior” (Betty) Burrows, Juanita (Darrell) Mason, and Lee Burrows. Dale graduated from Huntington East High School and attended Marshall University. He was employed as a mechanic at C&O Railway in the Huntington shops and honorably served in the United States Air Force, stationed in California, Texas, and Japan. Dale was an avid sports fan who loved to talk about Marshall basketball and football. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud “Papaw.” Dale’s singing and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family. Family and friends will be received at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Huntington on Saturday, March 17, from noon until 1 p.m., at which time a Funeral Liturgy will be held with Monsignor Dean G. Borgmeyer presiding. Reger Funeral Home of Huntington oversees arrangements.
