ALFRED C. ROY of Huntington was born at home on July 15, 1930, in Barboursville, W.Va. He went to be with the Lord in the early morning on March 7, 2018, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley. Alfred is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Tomblin Roy. He attended Barboursville High School then served in the military with the Army. Alfred worked for West Virginia Steel Corporation for 32 years before he retired, then went on to work at Lowe’s. He was an usher and trustee at the 10th Avenue Church of God, where he and Mildred were members since 1978. Alfred enjoyed hunting, fishing and spent hours tinkering in his garage. In addition to his wife, Alfred is survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Craig Hinchman of Huntington, Stephanie and her husband Trey Suire of Dallas,  Texas, Christy and her husband Mike York of Huntington, Derek Roy of Huntington; his great-grandchildren, Calvin, Casey and Allie Hinchman; Sophia and Tallen Suire; Hannah York; his sister-in-law Myrtle Roy and his daughtersin-law, Robbie Roy and Teresa Roy, and many other special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Garret Roy; his brothers, Gilmer, Lester and Garret Jr.; one sister, Lillian Taylor; his sons David A. and Gregory A. Roy; and his special nephew Larry A Roy. Funeral services will be conducted at Reger Funeral Home on Friday, March 9 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va.
