Obituary

THELMA HOPE ADKINS
(September 30, 1939 - October 4, 2014)



THELMA HOPE ADKINS, 75, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Minister Emual Adkins. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. She was born September 30, 1939 in East Lynn, a daughter of the late Elmer and Reba Lester Adkins. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Anthony Adkins, Jr., and one sister, Dicyellen Burns. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Sheffield of Huntington, and a special "son-in-law" Alan Sheffield; two sons, Carlos M. Adkins of Huntington, and Mark A. Adkins and his wife, Melanie of South Point; sisters Elizabeth Scarberry and Louise Maynard and her husband, J.W., all of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Elmer Adkins Jr, and his wife, Agnes of East Lynn, Anthony Adkins and his wife Sybil, and Cecil Adkins and his wife, Goldie, all of Huntington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Cabell Home Health, especially Brenda Damron and Michael Fraley, and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for all of their kindness and care during mom's illness. Visitation will be after noon, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
