Gary Cooper Keys, 87, of Barboursville, WV died December 13, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a short illness. He was born January 14, 1929 at home in Salt Rock, WV, son of the late James and Angie Browning Keys. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Christine Greene Keys, a sister, Kathryn Keys and a brother, James Keys, Jr. He is survived by his children, Karen (Steve) Gold of Barboursville and Vince (Brenda) Keys of Greensboro, NC and four grandchildren, KC (Scott) Klusty, of New Albany, OH, Jake (Elizabeth) Keys, of Greensboro, Caroline (Jon) True of Milton and Annie (Brian) Kendrick of Greensboro. Gary graduated from Barboursville High School in 1948 where he was president of the senior class and winner of the all around athlete award. He was retired from the WV Department of Highways. Gary was a life long Marshall fan attending games since the forties. He joined Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church as a teenager and was a tireless worker serving as Deacon, Elder, Clerk of Session and doing any job that needed to be done. He was even awarded an Honorary Life Membership to the Presbyterian Women. Gary was a lifelong liberal in the true Christian sense of the word. The family would like to thank the staff of Midland Meadows for all their kindnesses over the years. He truly thought of MM as his home.
