Landon Stewart "Stu" Willett
(December 3, 1920 - July 4, 2009)



Landon Stewart "Stu" Willett, 88, of Huntington, WV, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Trent Eastman officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville with Military Graveside Rites conducted by VFW Post 1064. Stu was born December 3, 1920 in Union County, KY a son of the late Marion Edward and Nannatta "Nannie" Norman Willett. Three brothers, James Edgar Willett, George Raymond Willett, and Freeman Emerson Willett, also preceded him in death. He was retired from the C & O Railroad with 34 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Squadron 29th. Air Service Group and received three Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Twenty-Sixth Street Baptist Church and he loved model trains. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Maxine King Willett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Jo Ellen Willett of Huntington and Marvin and Gwile Willett of Rio, IL; four grandchildren, Angie Marie Blake and her husband, Chris Blake, and Corie Beth Willett, all of Huntington, David Willett and his wife, Jessica, of White House, OH, and Kyle Willett of Rio, IL; four great grandchildren, Emily Brumfield, Hannah Jane Blake, Ronald Landon Allan Blake, and Eli Max Willett, all of Huntington; and a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn Louise and Charles Leber of Battletown, KY.
