Obituary

Judith Ann Withrow McCollins
(June 19, 1939 - July 16, 2009)

Judith Ann (Judy) Withrow was born on June 19, 1939 in Huntington, West Virginia, to the union of Frank Rodman and Ina Dell Horsely Withrow. She was the only child born to that union, but grew up showered with love by her parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. At an early age, she committed her life to Jesus Christ, and joined the Guyandotte Church of Christ in Guyandotte, WV. She graduated from Huntington East High School in 1957. That same year, she married George McCollins of Huntington. Their marriage produced three children: Susan Renee, George Michael (Mike), and Scott Dale. Judy worked for Chapman Printing Co. for over 18 years. At the end of her marriage of 26 years, she moved to Lexington, Kentucky to live with her daughter, Susan. While in Lexington, she attended Southland Christian Church, and worked at Honda of Frankfort. Into each life, some rain must fall. On April 8, 1998, Judy suffered a subdural hematoma, which was nearly fatal. She never completely regained full mobility but, through perseverance, continued to rehabilitate until she was able to go "most anywhere" through use of a wheelchair or walker. In 2000, Judy moved, along with her daughter, to South Florida. After that move, she joined South Winds Christian Church in Miami, where she attended regularly. The Lord called Judy home to be with Him on July 16, 2009. While she left many grieving family members and friends, we all know she is gone to a better place. Judy leaves to mourn: her daughter, Susan Robinson (Andrew) of Homestead, FL, and sons, Mike (Carol) and Scott (Tammie) of Huntington; grandchildren Cassidy, Tanner, Samantha, Sheila, and Kimberly of Huntington, and Bianca Precious, and Franklin of Miami, FL; and cousins Oris Horsely (Harriet), Charles Wilson (Carolyn), and Ina Jane, Helen, and Jim of Ohio, Janice Wilson, widow of Tom (below), Tom Michaels, widower of Loretta (below) plus legions of good friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, aunt Lucy Horsely Wilson, cousins Tom Wilson, Loretta Wilson Michaels, and her uncles, Ralph and Willard. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, July 24, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Wayne Carter officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary.
