Arvil Robert Garten, 82, of Huntington, WV formerly of Henderson, TX, died Monday September 14, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Arvil was born January 9, 1933 in Putney, WV, a son of the late Arvil Ernest and Marie Goodwin Garten. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, retired from Pacific Telephone Company and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Henderson, TX. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Garten and 2 brothers, James and Jackie Garten. Survivors include his wife Nancy Garten of Huntington, one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Kay and Billy Crawford of Henderson, one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sheila Garten of Huntington, three grandchildren, Jennifer Sprencel and husband Stephen, Robert and Amanda Kristy, three great-grandchildren, Bethany, Benjamin and Alexander Sprencel. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
