Francis "Frank" Clayton Smith, 83, of Huntington, widower of Bettie Smith, died Saturday, August 15, 2020 at his residence. He was born September 9, 1936 in Huntington a son of the late Shirley and Bessie Ross Smith. His two siblings, Phyllis Eckart and Orville Smith also preceded him in death. He was a retired Machinist from the CandO and CSX Railroad. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean War. His memberships include the American Legion Post 16, Huntington, VFW Post 1064, Machinist Union, Civil Air Patrol, and the Parachutes Association. Francis was a pilot for the skydiving lessons he taught to many skydivers, and had a great since of humor. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Margaret Smith of Huntington, and Terri Glen Rose of Louisville, KY; two granddaughters, Rudi Ann Smith of Huntington, and Brianna Rose Chaney of Huntington; a grandson, Clayton Allen Smith of Logan, WV; and four great grandchildren, Jaxson Whitt, Heaven Chaney, Reignbow Smith, and Bronson Smith. Chapman's Mortuary is assisting the family with cremation and no services are planned at this time.
