Helen May Lester


HELEN LEABERRY LESTER, 99, died October 16, 2020, at Woodlands Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Fred Lester, brothers Harry (Mary Lou), Ernest (Nancy), and Jack (Pat). She is survived by her beloved twin sister Mary Leaberry. She is also survived by her children and their families, Fred Lester Jr. (Mary) and their children Whitney (Steven) and Crosby, Jim Lester (Rumi) and their child Philip, and Sally Bogers (Jack) and their children John Bogers (Missy), Andrew Bogers (Kerri), and Carly Worthy (Sean); nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen attended Marshall University and was employed by Appalachian Power Co., International Nickel, and as a receptionist in her husband's dental practice. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Guyan Golf and Country Club, Women's Club of Huntington, and Huntington Dental Auxiliary. Helen loved cooking and entertaining family and friends as well as golf and gardening. She was an avid bridge player. A private, family graveside service will be held at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, with the Rev. James Morgan presiding. The family would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and aides at Woodlands Healthcare 3R, and Sherri, Meghan, and Diane.
