Roy J Adkins, JR
(August 31, 1926 - September 28, 2011)

Roy “ Poppy” Adkins Jr. 85 of Huntington, WV passed away September 28, 2011 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington with Rev. Donnie McCloud officiating. Burial will follow in white chapel memorial gardens, Barboursville, WV. Roy was born August 31, 1926 in Huntington a son to the late Roy Sr. and Addie Clay Adkins. He retired from C&O railway as a laborer. Roy served in the U.S. Army in WW II as well as the Korean War as a Staff Sgt./Cpl., he was a devoted member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans group. He is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Adkins and two sons Roger “Doc” Adkins and Albert Lewis Adkins. He is survived by two sons Ronnie A. and David Lee Adkins, and Granddaughter Patricia King, along with a host of many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday, October 3, 2011 at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ferrell-Chambers Funeral home, Huntington.
