Obituary
Betty Jane France
Betty Jane France was born on the first day of the year 1928, in Huntington, West Virginia. She was the only daughter of Homer and Angelene L. Johnson. She was also blessed to have the strong presence and influence of Aunt Janie Barnes as “Momma” in her life as she was growing up. Betty attended Douglas High School. She was the mother of three children—Angelene Johnson, Darlene Johnson, and Stacey Johnson. But Miss Betty, as she was affectionately known, was like a second mother to many more children in the neighborhood. In August, 1976 Betty Johnson was united in matrimony to Elmer France. Mrs. France was a retired health service provider at the Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital—formerly known as the Huntington State Hospital. She was a member of Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church. In addition Betty was a member of a club called The Occasionals. Betty France was preceded in death by both parents; Aunt Janie; her two brothers, Ravinelle Johnson and Meldrum Johnson, as well as one daughter, Darlene. Mrs. France leaves to cherish her fond memories two daughters, Angelene Johnson of Huntington, and Stacey Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren: Talisa Whitlock and Sharia Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Darrell Johnson of Shepherdstown, WV, and Arzetta “Precious” Johnson and Jazzy Johnson of Huntington; five great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am Friday at Full Gospel Assembly Church with Bishop Samuel Moore officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the church one hour prior to services time, also at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
