Nelson Dorian Layne
(April 28, 1951 - September 9, 2011)

Nelson Dorian Layne, 60 of Knoxville, TN Passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, Sept. 17 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, with Pastor Wayne Crozier officiating. Burial will be in Chelteham National Cemetery, Brandywine, MD at a later date. Nelson was born April 28, 1951 in Huntington, WV a son of Velma Dewitt Layne, Jr and Rosetta Maxine Layne. Nelson worked as a Harbor Tunnel Policeman, in Baltimore, MD and as a guard at the Maryland State Penitentiary. Nelson was a Vietnam era Navy Veteran where he served as a Ceremonial- Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother Frank Layne. He is survived by two daughters Erin Layne and Erica (William) Jones and three grandchildren, Gary Scott, JR. Alexis Scott, and London Jones of Upper Marlboro, MD, His mother Rosetta Layne, one sister, Francine Layne Ozoigbo and two brothers Velma D Layne III and Brett Layne all of Huntington, WV, sister-in-law, Dacene Layne, of Ft. Washington, MD, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend and companion, Iva Dalton of Knoxville, TN. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
