Obituary

ELSIE MAE GIBSON GILKERSON was called home on Friday, October 24, 2008. At the age of 94, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Gilkerson; her mother, Lottie Cremeans; and her father, Jink Gibson. She is survived by her only child, Mary Fellure; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, W.Va., on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. with her grandson, Rev. Tim Fellure, officiating. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery in Cabell County, West Virginia. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Elsie loved two things in life: her family and her church. She was the sweetest mother and grandmother a family could have, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a life-long resident of West Virginia until 1996, when she moved to Florida to live with her daughter. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Milton, Fla., and was faithful to every service that her health allowed. Elsie lived a simple life that came from growing up during the Depression. She learned to be frugal, and she never changed her ways. She ate the same food every day, never threw anything away, and lived for her family. Elsie will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves a void in our hearts that only heaven will heal.
