Obituary

Mildred M. Black Smith, 85, of Milton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 17, 2008 at her residence.  Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Forest Cummings officiating.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Milton.  She was born December 2, 1922 in Cabell Co., WV a daughter of the late Emerson and Mary Bell Black.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mark R. Smith; four brothers, Birtus, Tom, Hershel, and James Black; eight sisters, Rebecca King, Stella Clagg, Jessie Clagg, Emma Stanley, Lillian Barilla, Bessie Jenkins, Millie Black, and Dollie Black.  She was a homemaker and a member of Bias Chapel Church.  Her kind heartedness and the way she took care of her family and community will be missed by all those who knew her.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kay Smith of Milton; brother and sister-in-law, Billie and Opal Black of Milton; two grandchildren, Sharon Whitt and Mark Anthony Smith; three great grandchildren, Sydney Smith, Mason Smith, and Brayden Whitt; and special neices, Delilah Mills, Dean Reynolds, and Linda Clagg.  Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
