MARY M. HATCHER
(March 17, 1919 - October 31, 2011)

Mary Mildred Ellis Hatcher, 92, of Barboursville, West Virginia, went to her Heavenly Home on October 31, 2011, while in the care of Hospice House, surrounded with love from her family.  Born March 17, 1919, in Henlawson, Logan County, West Virginia, she was one of 14 children and was preceded in death by her parents, Emert and Lieu Ellis, and her husband of 67 years, Charles Morris Hatcher. Survivors are her children, Judy Surprise, of Daytona Beach, Florida, and her children, John, Wes, and Joy; Charles Hatcher, Jr. (Sue) and their children, Chad and Molly; Dave Hatcher (Melanie) and their son, Jason; and Steve Hatcher (Ellen) and their children, Rachel, Jimmy, and Katrina, all of Huntington, West Virginia.  She has 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and one great-great-granddaughter. Mary was a long-time member of River Cities Community Church.  She was a teacher and later employed at Sears. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary will be missed by her family and friends; but all who knew her are comforted by her Christian testimony, knowing she is now in Heaven.  Psalm 118:24  “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Mary at Hospice House.  The family wishes to especially thank Tywanna Kearns, Jessica Jarvis, Juanita Blevins, and her other caregivers for their loving care the past few years.  Mary loved them all dearly. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Henson Mortuary, 6357 East Pea Ridge Road, Barboursville, West Virginia, with funeral services by Dr. David Lemming to follow at 3:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
