Obituary

GUY A. JOHNSON
(July 14, 1922 - October 5, 2011)

Guy  A. Johnson, 89 of Huntington, WV passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, WV with Dr. David Lemming officiating.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #139 Milton, WV. He was born July 14, 1922 in Huntington, WV, the son of the late George A. and Florence R. (Steele) Johnson.  Guy was a resident of Midland Meadows Assisted Living, Ona, WV, a retired Plumber and Pipefitter from local #521 in Huntington. He also served in the U.S. Army, attended Souls For Christ Baptist Church and was baptized at Crossroads Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife in 1996, Betty R. (Watts)  Johnson; one sister, Venus Legrand May; two brothers, Garland and James Leland Johnson. Guy is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Fortner (Russell) of Huntington, WV, Dawn Legg of Boca Raton, FL, and Gayle Blankenship of Huntington, WV; one son, Chris Johnson (Judy) of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Kristen Fortner-Anderson (Mark) of Cincinnati, OH and Amy Blankenship of Huntington, WV.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to Midland Meadows Recreation Fund or Hospice of Huntington in Remembrance of Guy A. Johnson.   The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville.
