Carol Jean Auvil
(October 12, 1929 - January 6, 2013)



Carol Jean Auvil, 83 of South Point, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Community Hospice in Ashland, Ky. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at the Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Abbey of Devotion by Minister Tim Gainer. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Jeannie was born October 12, 1929 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Thomas Oakley and Norma Louise Flowers Perry. She was a 1947 graduate of Huntington High, Captain of the girls’ basketball team, a secretary of Jefferson Elementary School, bookkeeper of Van Zant Supply, manager of Up Towner Inns, Inc., retired manager of Pleasant View Manor in Vienna, WV and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a mother who was willing to sacrifice for her family and will be remembered for her unselfish giving. The burdens of life have fallen away and she will live on in our hearts forever. Jeannie was also preceded in death by her husband Leo Otis Auvil, an infant daughter and one sister Eleanor Jarvis. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in –law: C. Ray and Coti Dotson of Seattle Washington, David Dotson of Chesapeake, OH and Jon and Beverly Auvil of Huntington; one daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Steve Rowe of South Point, OH. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Tracy and Mark Hamrick, Michael Dotson, Mark and Tammy Dotson, Justin and Jennifer Dotson, Heather Dotson and Keaton, Travis Rowe and Michele, Laura Dotson, Christopher Dotson, and Caroline, Elizabeth and Katherine Auvil. In addition, twelve great-grandchildren survive her as well, Tristan, Jaden, David, Ashley, Kayla, Brandon, Brianna, Zachery, Leilani, Jade, Kainoa and Liam; and one great-great grandson Leo Thomas Williams. She is also survived by two special nieces, Donna and John Garten, Charla and Bill Ward. The family wishes to thank special friends, Julie, Mona, Helen, and Joyce, the staff of Best Care in Wheelersburg, OH and Ashland Community Hospice. Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Abbey of Devotion at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, until service time at 3:00 p.m. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
