Alvin Ralph Mudge
(October 6, 1914 - January 11, 2013)



ALVIN RALPH MUDGE, 98, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jerry Chapman. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Alvin was born on October 6, 1914, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Harry and Christine Durie Mudge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Thompson Mudge; son Robert Mudge; grandson Chris Mudge; a brother Harry Mudge, II, and a sister Dorothy Venn of Michigan. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Richard “Dick” and Patricia Mudge of White Lake, Mich., and granddaughters and grandson Marcy Olszewski, Holly Kirby and Kevin Mudge, and four great-granddaughters; step-daughter Marlene and Leo Mannon and step-granddaughter Michelle Macri (Philip) of the Huntington area. Alvin served as Chief Engineer of Penn Michigan Manufacturing Co., and Buhl Stamping Co., the largest independent metal manufacturing company in the Detroit, Michigan area. He was a former member of the Engineering Society of Detroit, Optimist of Walled Lake, Mich. He took up oil painting at the age of 75 and painted over 85 works; his paintings are in five states. He was a member of the American Association of Marine Artist. Alvin was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. Friends may call from noon until service time on Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
