Freddie Pyles, Jr.
(May 12, 1939 - October 22, 2013)



In Loving Memory of Freddie Pyles, Jr., 74, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday October 22, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Tom Nolan. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. He was born May 12, 1939 in Wayne County, WV, a son of the late Fredrick Taylor Bowen and Shirley Pyles Holt. He was adopted by his maternal grandparents, the late Fred Pyles, Sr. and Gypsey Blose Pyles. He retired as Chief of Communications Information Management with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Freddie was an Honor Graduate of his class at Airborne School and a member of the US Army 19th Special Forces Unit. Survivors include his beloved partner of 23 years Judy Smith; two sons and daughters in law Michael and Sherri Pyles of St. Louis, Missouri and Steven and Lynn Pyles of Clearwater, Fla.; grandson Alex Pyles of St. Louis, MO.; two granddaughters Nicole Pyles stationed with the US Navy in Norfolk, VA and Christine Pyles of Clearwater, Fla., Judy’s two sons and spouses Tony and Sarah Smith and Scott and Lori Smith all of Huntington and four grandchildren Jacob, Jennah, Lauren and Ryan Smith. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Reger Funeral Home.
