Obituary



Jean Akers, 90, of Ceredo, WV, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with her husband, Rondal Akers, Sr., on Valentine’s Day. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. She was born June 2, 1925 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late James and Iva Scarberry Porter. Jean was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker who worked at the Sylvania Plant during WWII. In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a grandson Rondal Akers, III and sisters Gladys Akers, Dorothy Frasher and Ruth Deal. Survivors include a son and daughter in law Dr. Rondal Akers, Jr. and Lucinda Akers of Cleveland, TN.; two daughters and a son in law Karen and Stanley Williams of Lesage, WV and Cathy Akers of Ceredo, WV; grandchildren Katrina Davis, Andrea Akers-Marella, Kelli Pander and Kristina Williams; great grandchildren Lindsey Akers, Valerie, Rebecca and Scotty Davis, Stanley Williams and Keira Williams-Brady and a brother Bill Porter of Longview, Washington. Friends may call from noon until service time on Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home.
