Obituary



Geraldine Harriet Stacy of Huntington, passed away at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington on February 9, 2016 at the age of 95. She was born September 23, 1920, in Red Jacket, WV to the late James Martin Parcell and Essie Mae Cooper Parcell. She was graduated from Matewan High School and Marshall University with a B.A. degree in elementary education. She taught for 15 years in the Wayne County school system. She was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. She also was active in Alpha Delta Kappa, a women educators sorority. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her two brothers James Parcell and William Parcell and three sisters Mildred Tate, Katheryn McKenzie and Virginia Crockett. She was married to Paul G. Stacy, who preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by two nieces, LaDonna Crotty and her husband Bob Crotty of Lucasville, Ohio and Gloria Monckton of Fairhope, Alabama and two nephews, Glenn Parcell of Bramley, Hampshire, England and David Parcell of Groton, Connecticut, as well as several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Cora Mead and Patty Ross, who helped care for her during the last year of her life and Loretta Hetzer and Minetta Rice. In addition she is survived by the staff of Wyngate at River’s Edge in Proctorville, Ohio, who cared for her and became like a family to her during the last year of her life. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Tom Nolen. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call from 11 am until service time on Friday at the Reger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington or the Westmoreland United Methodist Church.
