Obituary



David Neil Blatt of Lavalette went to his heavenly Father at Arbors of Gallipolis, Gallipolis, Ohio on February 22, 1016, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle against Alzheimer’s. Dave was born February 20, 1935 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Luke Anthony and Era Elizabeth Blatt who predeceased him. He worked in the dairy business along with his brother, Michael Blatt until 1986, when they accepted the U.S. Government’s Buy-out Program. He was then employed by Huntington Interstate Milk Producers Association as Manager, for ten years. He retired and decided to do lawn work for people in and around the Huntington and Lavalette area. Dave never saw a stranger and will forever be remembered for his robust and contagious laughter. He is survived by his widow of 60 years Roberta Fish Blatt and three children: Jeffrey Lewis Blatt (Heather) of Huntington, Brenda Gayle Parsons (Jeffrey) of Milton, and Laura Elizabeth Simmons (James “Bo”) of Lavalette. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Russel David Blatt (Christie) of Knoxville, TN., Betsy Elaine Davis (Brandon) of St. Albans, WV., Chester A. Maynard of Lavalette, Jacob Chase Parsons of Tuscaloosa, AL., Rachael Brynelle Simmons and Tessa Rae Simmons both of Lavalette and one great grandson, Edward Jeffrey Blatt of Knoxville,TN.. He is also survived by one brother Michael A. Blatt (Carmen) of Lavalette and three sisters Shirley Dolores Nelson of Lavalette, Sandra J. May of Columbus, OH. and Sharon Christine Chadwick (Daniel) of Wayne. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Fr. Dean G. Borgmeyer with burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until service time Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Reger Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
