Obituary

Thomas Outland Bates
(April 18, 1942 - February 21, 2017)

Thomas Outland Bates, 74, of Hurricane, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Kanawha Hospice Care. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Trent Eastman. He was born April 18, 1942 in El Paso, Texas, a son of the late Bill and Alice Bates. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Bates and Sam Bates; special niece, Amanda Blake; and father-in-law, Junior Blake. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Blake Bates; one daughter, Mary Adams (Michael); one son, Douglas Bates (Laurel); three grandchildren, Niki Lewis, Monica Bates and Valerie Hoff (Michael); three great-grandchildren, Victoria Bates, John Hoff and Wyatt Hoff; mother-in-law, Ester Blake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harvey Blake, Jimmy and Marsha Blake, and Stanley and Penny Blake; and special niece, Leslie Roberts (Adam). Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
