Obituary

Martha Louise Casey
(March 24, 2013)

Mrs. Martha L. Casey died peacefully Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was the widow of Robert L. Casey and the daughter-in-law of Mike and Sadie Casey. She is survived by her two daughters Saundra (and her husband Victor Ortloff ) and Martha (and her husband Sam Dameron); her four grandchildren Kimberly Brown (and her husband Steve Brown), Christina Del Re, Michael Del Re (and his wife Amber), and Shawn Hurst; her five great grandchildren Elijah Zevely, Alexander Brown, Troy Brown, Brian Del Re, and Allison Del Re; three half sisters, Alice Clapham, Janet Ford and Doris Martin. Martha grew up during the austere eras of the Great Depression and WWII. After the war, she married Robert Casey and became a devoted wife and mother. She worked in various administrative positions while transferring with her husband to different State Police positions throughout West Virginia. After her daughters were grown, she became the caretaker for her elderly mother-in-law and husband whose health failed in later years. Martha was a bulwark of strength when life’s experiences buffeted her family. She quietly provided guidance and support when others stumbled and grew faint. Martha leaves her family a legacy of strength and determination in times of adversity. She will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday March 27, 2013 at Chapman’s Mortuary, with the Rev. Dr. John Sauvage officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House 3100 Staunton Road Huntington, WV, 25702.
