John Edward Via, 75, of Huntington, WV, died Tuesday October 10, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday October 13, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. John was born November 29, 1941 in Huntington, WV a son of the late George Edward and Kathleen Nelson Via. He retired from Marathon Oil as a Supervisor. He was a member of the Sixth Ave Church of Christ and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Brandy Renee Via and a sister, Judith Via Xenos. Survivors include one daughter, Cassie Via of Huntington, two grandchildren, James Michael Jewel Kimball and Samuel Edward Adams both of Huntington, one great granddaughter, one niece, Kathy Bush of Charleston, WV, two nephews, Bruce Hendrix of Huntington, and Craig Rogers of Columbus, Oh. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday October 12, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary.
