Sallie Farley
(December 24, 1929 - March 19, 2015)



Sallie Ferrell Farley, 85, of Chesapeake, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Sallie was born on December, 24, 1929 in Delbarton, WV, to the late Esther Stepp and Hugh Johnse Ferrell. Sallie was a 1948 graduate of Burch High School, Delbarton, WV. Her pursuit of excellence resulted in being named valedictorian of her senior class. That dominating quality was exemplified throughout her life. She served in ministry for over four decades with her husband, Pastor Paul R. Farley at Jefferson Avenue Church of God, leading the women's ministry which included annual church bazaars and fundraising dinners. She was famous for her cooking and homemaking skills. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Greg Tomlinson and Pastor Stewart Farley, on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jefferson Avenue Church of God. Burial will follow at the Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. In addition to her parents Sallie was preceded in death by her son Paul H. Farley, a granddaughter Paula Kay Young, a brother Bryson, her twin brother Marion, and Hugh Ferrell, and sisters Mary Marcum and Straulie Pratt. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Pastor Paul Ray Farley, her son and daughter in law Stewart and Sheila Farley of Lewisburg, WV; daughter and son in law Millie and Greg Tomlinson of Chesapeake, OH; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother Grover Ferrell, sisters Lula Ferrell and Gracie Vernatter; and a host of nieces and nephews and by her loving church family. Friends may call from 3 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Jefferson Ave Church of God. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jefferson Ave Church of God – Ladies Ministries.
