(November 9, 1935 - September 20, 2016)

BILLY LEE "BILL" BURNS, 80, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to heaven on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, W.Va., with Pastor Gordon Rutherford officiating. Burial will be at Forest Memorial Park in Milton, W.Va. He was born November 9, 1935, in Lincoln County, West Virginia, to the late Nora Sponuagle Burns and the late Brud B. Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen, four sisters, Ethel Bragg, Elsie Reynolds, Sarah Jayne Fauver and Imogene Stump, and four brothers, Leslie "Bood" Burns, Lester "Charles" Burns, Ralph Jr. Burns and Paul Edward Burns. Bill was a member of Olive Baptist Church and was retired from Special Metals. Bill loved sitting on his porch watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and his very special friend, Carolyn Murphy. His is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Donita Burns of Huntington, W.Va., and Brian and Pam Burns of Black River Falls, Wis. He had six grandchildren, Scott Burns and his wife Kerri of Huntington, W.Va., Matthew Burns of Huntington, W.Va., Jeanene Burns of Huntington, W.Va., Steven Burns of Manitowoc, Wis., Joshua Burns of Washington, D.C., and Kristy Burns of Black River Falls, Wis.; four super special great-grandchildren that he adored, Mattyson, Laycee, Katelyn and Justin, and two sisters and their husbands, Thelma and Paul McComas of Huntington, W.Va., and Barbara and John Trial of Daytona Beach, Fla. He had a very special nephew and his wife, Bobby and Liz Stump. There was a great group of friends that he had breakfast with at McDonald's that will truly miss him. He spent his last morning on Earth with them. Special times for sure. He will be missed by many, but not like he will be missed by those of us that were privileged enough to see him every day. He was such a great part of our lives and will truly be missed. Visitation took place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
