Mrs. Allene C. Barber, 91, of Huntington, WV., passed away Monday February 23, 2009, in St Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday February 26, 2009 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington by Pastor Jerry Matt. Entombment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Allene was born September 15, 1917 in Huntington, WV., a daughter of the late Howard & Frances Perry Wetzel. She was a charter member of the Grace Gospel Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Luther "Vince" Barber, 1 sister Betty McElroy and 1 brother Paul Wetzel. Survivors include 2 daughters & sons-in-law; Beverly & Herb Webb of Richmond, KY., and Sharon & Alan Wilcox of Huntington, 1 son & daughter-in-law; James "Jim" & Connie Barber of Huntington, 7 grandchildren; Jamie Barber, Lisa Thomas, Teresa Killin, Mia Simpson, Chad Wilcox, Aaron Sayble Webb, and Sarah Hall, 6 great-grandchildren; Tennyson Thomas, Hayden Thomas, Nicholas Killin, Jack Simpson, Harris Hall & Anderson Thomas. The family would like to send a special thank-you to caregiver Maxine Adkins, nurses and staff of the 3rd floor cardiac step-down unit at St. Mary's Medical Center and Hospice of Huntington.
