Allene C. Barber

Mrs. Allene C. Barber, 91, of Huntington, WV., passed away Monday February 23, 2009, in St Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday February 26, 2009 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington by Pastor Jerry Matt. Entombment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Allene was born September 15, 1917 in Huntington, WV., a daughter of the late Howard & Frances Perry Wetzel. She was a charter member of the Grace Gospel Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Luther "Vince" Barber, 1 sister Betty McElroy and 1 brother Paul Wetzel. Survivors include 2 daughters & sons-in-law; Beverly & Herb Webb of Richmond, KY., and Sharon & Alan Wilcox of Huntington, 1 son & daughter-in-law; James "Jim" & Connie Barber of Huntington, 7 grandchildren; Jamie Barber, Lisa Thomas, Teresa Killin, Mia Simpson, Chad Wilcox, Aaron Sayble Webb, and Sarah Hall, 6 great-grandchildren; Tennyson Thomas, Hayden Thomas, Nicholas Killin, Jack Simpson, Harris Hall & Anderson Thomas. The family would like to send a special thank-you to caregiver Maxine Adkins, nurses and staff of the 3rd floor cardiac step-down unit at St. Mary's Medical Center and Hospice of Huntington. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. (3100 Staunton St. Huntington, WV. 25702).
