Obituary

Raymond Douglas "Doug" Francis
April 22, 1942 - January 30, 2009

MR. RAYMOND DOUGLAS "DOUG" FRANCIS, 66, of Ceredo, WV, passed away January 30, 2009 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He was born April 22, 1942, in Williamson, WV, a son of the late Bob and Vicie Francis. Doug leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 40 years, Brenda Gail Miller Francis; his daughter, Jessica Paige (Tracy Alan) Frazier, of Ashland, KY; his beloved grandson, Sawyer Glenn Frazier-the bright light in Poppaw's life; and a sister, Patty Francis of Homer, NY. He also leaves behind many special friends. Doug served as President of Persinger Supply Company until 2001, and worked for Persingers for 41 years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He also served on the United Way Board of Directors, volunteered at St Mary's Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Unit, and was inducted into the Williamson High School Hall of Fame in 2007. He experienced many joys in his retirement years, none greater than the birth of Sawyer Glenn, now 3 years old. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Thomas "Pete" Francis. A service to celebrate Doug's life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kenova on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, or First Baptist Church of Kenova Building Fund. The family will receive friends after noon on Thursday at the church.
