Maurice Franklin Johnson

Maurice Franklin Johnson, 39, of Huntington, WV, departed this life, Friday, November 18, 2022. Maurice was born February 26, 1983 in Columbus, OH a son of Steven Johnson and Virginia Wood. Maurice graduated from East High School and Eastland -Fairfield Career and Technical School (with a certificate in Welding) in Groveport, OH. He had previously worked for Waffle House as a cook. Maurice grew up in the All Nations Church in Columbus, OH being taught in Sunday School and Kingdom Kids by Brother Louis and Sister Myrna Byrd and hearing the sermons of Apostle Brian K. Williams. He was preceded in death by a son Maurlee Johnson and uncles Ivery Wood and Franklin Cleckley. In addition to his parents, he is survived by: a son, Victorice Johnson; sisters, Michelle Wood and Valaine Hermann; and a brother, Davon Johnson; an aunt, Ellen Nichols; uncles Ivan Davis and Ralph Wood; cousins, Shannon, Nichole, and Luke Cleckley; and a very special friend, Bill Clark Jr. who was a mentor and was like a big brother to Maurice for decades. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Evangelist Brady Miles officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.
