Hencie Eligha Merz
(January 28, 1925 - February 21, 2013)


Hencie E. Merz (Hank), 88 of Huntington, WVa., passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born January 28, 1925 in Louisville, Ky., a son of the late John and Lucretia Bowen Merz. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Al and Ted Merz, three sisters, Edith Rosie and Marie Merz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; and retired as an agent from Peoples Life Insurance. Co. He is survived by his wife Bernice Forman Merz; one brother Phil Merz of Louisville, Ky., four step-sons, Carl Hewlett (Nancy); Scott Forman (Jeanie); Steve Forman (Cindy), and Stan Forman. In addition, two step-daughters, Teresa Eakle (David) and Valerie Payne, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, survive him as well. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25th at the Reger Funeral Chapel, by Rev. Tim Yates. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WVa. Contributions may be made to the Pallottine Missionary Sisters at St. Mary’s; or the Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter.
