Obituary

MADALENE COYNER
(May 15, 1929 - September 29, 2014)



MADALENE COYNER, 85 years, 4 months, of Barboursville, passed away peacefully at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House on Monday, September 29, 2014, after a sudden illness. Mrs. Coyner was born May 15, 1929, in Chesapeake, Ohio to the late Harry and Allie Henson Leffingwell. She was predeceased by her husband Marvin D. Coyner, her sister Iona Murray, her brothers James Leffingwell, David "Slug" Leffingwell, and Paul "Hammie" Leffingwell. Madalene leaves behind two children Rev. Philip Chapman (Brenda) of Barboursville and Deborah Chapman (James Green) of Huntington; two stepsons M.D. Coyner (Ruth Ann) of Stafford, Va. and Troy Coyner (Veronica) of Darlington S.C.; two stepdaughters, Karen Plummer of Richmond, Va. and Bonna Pheiffer of Timonium, Md. She is also survived by two grandsons, Curtis and Daniel Chapman; step grandson, Jeffrey Coyner, and step granddaughter Brooke Coyner Sexton; and great-granddaughter Danielle Juliana Chapman. Madalene also leaves behind her brother Daniel Clark Leffingwell of Belpre, Ohio, sister Pauline Meadows of Inwood, W.Va. and sister-in-law Carol Leffingwell of Chesapeake. Madalene was a fiercely loving and loyal mother, grandmother and sister. Those who knew and loved her, viewed her as one of a kind, full of quips, sass and wisdom. Mrs. Coyner retired from Corbin LTD and the Corbin Federal Credit Union. She was a member of Emmanuel Community Church in Huntington. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Visitation and viewing will be at Wallace from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor Philip Chapman officiating; followed by burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
