Rodney Mark Holbrook
(October 17, 1956 - April 15, 2016)



Rodney Mark Holbrook, 59, of Barboursville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2016. He was born on October 17, 1956 at Fort Bragg, NC, a son of the late Orvice Granville “O.G.” Holbrook and Mary Alice Sowards Holbrook of Huntington. He was preceded in death by his uncles, Jack Sowards and Arley Holbrook; aunts Sally Sowards, Margie Warden and Emma Smith. He is survived by his wife of almost 38 years Georgann Carter Holbrook; one daughter Amanda Holbrook, two sons Benjamin Holbrook and Clayton N. Holbrook all of Barboursville; one sister Roxanne Holbrook Skeens and one brother Rock Holbrook both of Huntington. He is also survived by his aunts Winona Holbrook, Bertha Sowards, Anne Fulks, and uncles Russell Warden, and Gene Sowards, and many cousins. Rodney is also survived by his four-legged children Alex, Callie and Leo. He attended Steele Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Barboursville High School and attended Huntington East Trade School and Tampa Bay Tech. Rod was retired, due to health problems, from his business as owner and operator of Holbrook Auto Sales and Service where he worked for many years. He had many interests including classic cars, Civil War and Barboursville history, camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. Rod was a former NRA instructor, gun collector, and trophy-winning marksman. He enjoyed watching classic movies and listening to rock and roll music. Rod appreciated nature, looking at the stars, being in awe of God's creation, and spending time with his family and friends. He had many friends who are all like family, Don Ballengee, Larry Brodtrick, John and Susan Call, Greg and Gina Crews, Doug George, John and Phyllis Griffith, Rick Keaton, Rodney Keaton, Roger Keaton, Kenney Mahaffey, Bob McComas, Kevin Means, J.W. Peters, Russell Ramey, Tom Shelton, Betty and Herb Thompson, Bruce Thompson, and Linda Wolfe. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. with funeral services following on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, in Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Kevin Lantz and Rev. Ralph Sager. It was Rodney's wish to be cremated.
