Donald Edwin "Don" Hunter
(May 16, 1933 - August 1, 2013)



Donald Edwin “Don” Hunter, a lifetime resident of Huntington, WV died on Thursday, August 1, 2013. He was born May 16, 1933 to Garnet and Eula Sullivan Hunter. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Kendrick Hunter; three children, Sheila Stark (Larry), Dale “Eddie” Hunter (Beckie) and Greg Hunter (Tonya). Additional survivors include his four grandchildren Austin Hunter, Molly Hunter, Katie Hunter and Dane Hunter and sister, Beatrice “Bea Ann” Osburn, sister-in-law Lorine Morrison, and special friends, Steve and Cindy Forman. Don was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired from Steel of West Virginia. He was a sports enthusiast and some of his greatest years were coaching little league baseball, football and basketball. In his later years he kept busy with his vegetable garden; always growing enough to share with others. Funeral service will be held at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington at 2:00 PM Saturday August 3, 2013 with Pastor Paul Holton officiating. Burial will be in Crook Cemetery. The Family will receive friends and family two hours prior to the funeral. The family would like to thank Dr. Silbermins and the girls at H.I.M.G. and Toney and the girls at Short Stay at St. Mary’s Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Hospice House of Huntington, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702.
