Roger Lee Staley
(January 19, 1947 - February 2, 2014)



Roger Lee Staley, 67 of Kenova, WV went to be with his Lord, Sunday, February 2, 2014 at St. Marys Medical Center, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at England Hill Freewill Baptist Church, Catlettsburg, KY at 1 p.m. of which he was a member. Service will be conducted by Pastor’s Willie May and Kim Stone. Burial will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery. He was born January 19, 1947 in Kenova, WV, the son of Mary Frances Lewis Staley and the late Raymond Barry Staley. He was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Barry Staley, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Brown Staley, daughter, Amy Kristine Knight and son-in-law Joseph Knight; and daughters, Rachel Elizabeth Staley and Bari Frances Mays all of Kenova; and a nephew that he loved like a son, Nathan Ray Staley of Prichard, WV. Seven grandchildren, Shea, Evan & Matthew Knight; Alexander & Lani Minton and Abigale and Maddy Mays. One great grandson, Kaidyn Kingery and nephew, Justin Clagg. Aunts Donna May of Prichard and Fern Fitzpatrick of Huntington, WV, very special cousins, Terry (Topper) Spry, Herma Lynn Davis and Warren (Bossy) Spry. Roger retired from Columbia Gas Transmission and NiSource, Inc. with 32 years of service; he also worked 13 years construction for Local 543. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War and a lifetime member of American Legion, Post 93 of Kenova, and WV where he was a member of the bowling team for many years. Roger was “Poppy” to his seven grandchildren and one great grandchild who he loved, cherished and enjoyed beyond measure. The highlight of Roger’s life was his three little shadows, Amy, Beth and Bari. Roger was always willing to help friends when needed and will be greatly missed by many. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, February 4, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Home and from noon until service time on Wednesday at the church. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nathan Staley and Joseph Knight. Pallbearers will be Alexander Minton, Tom Pennington, Matthew and Michael McComas, Warren (Flattop) and Bryan Lee Spry and Justin Clagg.
