(October 23, 1941 - February 7, 2016)

WANE C. ASHWORTH of Ona, W.Va., went to live with the Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2016, following a brief illness. He was born on October 23, 1941, in Lincoln County to the late James Clay and Lona Rice Ashworth. Wane was a 1959 graduate of Hamlin High School, a retiree of M&G Polymers at Apple Grove, a believer and a regular attendee of Beulah Ann Baptist Church, Ona, and First Baptist Church of Frostproof, Fla. Predeceasing him were Rod's mother Zenith; his brother Denny; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Willoe Messinger Ashworth; son Rodney L. Ashworth (Cheryl) of Barboursville; stepson K. Todd Clagg (Stephanie) of Milton; five grandchildren, Mollie Ashworth, Collin and Breann Clagg, Rocky and Jenna Floyd; two brothers, Calvin of Hamlin and Barry (Rosilee) of Culloden; sister-in-law Cindy of Scott Depot; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wane was an avid angler both here in the Tri-State and in the Lakemont Ridge RV Park at Frostproof, Fla., where he and his first mate John Blondina, could be found regularly on the lakes. Special thanks to the MICU and IR departments of CHH for their exemplary care, compassion, and professionalism. Deepest appreciation to Dr. Marc Hettlinger for providing care above and beyond his profession. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., and after noon Friday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel with Danny Ford, Pastor Pete Davidson and Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Entombment will be in the Forest Memorial Park Mausoleum, Milton.
