Ruby Kirtner
(January 16, 1925 - June 3, 2009)


Mrs. Ruby Hearn Kirtner, 84 of Huntington, WV, widow of James R. "Bob" Kirtner, passed away Wednesday June 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Highlawn Presbyterian Church, with Dr. R Jackson Haga officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born January 16, 1925 at Welch, WV, a daughter of the late William L. and Ruth Phaup Hearn. She resided in Chattaroy, WV with her late husband James R. "Bob" Kirtner and son Michael until 1959. They moved to Huntington, WV when Bob's work was relocated from Williamson, WV. She attended Chattaroy, WV schools, both junior and senior high schools, graduating in 1943. She was married to her high school sweetheart "Bobby", who passed away in 1986, for 42 years. She was also preceeded in death by 2 brothers, William "Bill" Hearn, Jr.and Roy H. Hearn, a sister, Virginia Varney, and an infant son, Robert Partick Kirtner in 1957. She attended Highlawn Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Chancel Choir. She is survived by her son , the love of her life, Michael Kirtner and his wife Rita of Culloden, 2 grandchildren Dawn Kirtner of Culloden, Reeves Kirtner and his wife Bethany of Huntington, a great grandchild, Carly Elswick, her surviving sister, Lucy McCoy of Merritt Island, FL, and her special friends, David Chenoweth, Bruce Rous, Jane George, and Larry and Carla Lapelle. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington from 5 pm until 7:30 pm Friday June 5, 2009, and after noon Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Highlawn Presbyterian Church .
