Gloria Jean "Dody" Smith

Gloria Jean "Dody" Smith, 56, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born January 25, 1953,in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Granville and Beatrice Young Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnia Lee Smith on May 24, 2009. Dody was a Minister, a seamstress, and a home healthcare provider. She was a member of King of Glory Church. Survivors include: four daughters, Tami Avella of Bradenton, FL, Annette (Charley) Roberts of Conover, NC, and Ramona (Mark "Sam") Smith and Dixie (Robert) Means, all of Huntington; a son, Arnia L. Smith Jr. of Huntington; three sisters, Shirley (John) Mayes of Huntington, Phyllis (Keith) Haithcock of Kernersville, NC, and Pamela (Keith) Adkins of Huntington; three brothers, Dexter (Tina) Shoemaker of Ona, WV and Richard (Joy) Shoemaker and Jeff (Mary) Shoemaker, all of Milton, WV; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, July 3, 2009, at First Huntington Christian Baptist Church, 402 Buffington Street, Huntington, with Pastor William Kouns officiating. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Friends may call after 1:00 PM Friday at the church.
