Maggie Murphy
(August 10, 1918 - July 11, 2010)


Mrs. Maggie Lou Murphy, 91, of Huntington, widow of William Murphy, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 11. 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Wednesday July 14, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Minister Danny Evans officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born August 10, 1918, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Millard and Zella Massie Hay. She was a member of the Farmdale Church of Christ. In addition to the parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Freddy K. Staley, who was killed in Viet Nam, brothers, Homer and Jimmy Hay, a sister, Nora Belle Little, and a special friend, Shirley Franklin. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Darrell Nelson, of Huntington, a son Irvin Staley; a sister, Mildred Ray, a brother whom she raised, Robert (Bobby) Hay and wife, Jean Hay, and 4 additional brothers, Morgan Hay, Russell Hay, Herman Hay and wife Arlene, Herbert Hay and wife Fon, 8 grand children, 10 great grand children, a host of great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews as well. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday, July 13, 2010.
