Cebert Adkins
(May 24, 1921 - May 2, 2010)



Cebert Adkins, 88, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, at his residence He was born May 24, 1921 in Midkiff, Lincoln County, WV a son of the late Linsy and Hattie L. Tooley Adkins. His wife, Joyce Margaret Boon Adkins; a son, Danny Austin Adkins; two sisters; and a brother, also preceded him in death. He was a carpenter with Carpenters Union Local #302 and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church and a life member of VFW Post 9738, where he was Past Commander from 1971 to 1972. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bruce Damron of Huntington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Shirley Adkins and Darrell Adkins, all of Proctorville, OH; four brothers, Edward (Lucy) Adkins of Circleville, OH, Clarence Adkins of Detroit, MI, David (Isabelle) Adkins of Millersburg, OH and Cletis (Odessa) Adkins of Wooster, OH; five grandchildren, Robbie Elza of Huntington; Joyce (Steve) Brooks, Travis Adkins, and Taylor Adkins, all of Proctorville, and Chad (Angie) Damron of Huntington; four great grandchildren, Alyssa Elza of Tampa, FL, Kansas Haleigh Brooks of Proctorville, and Seth Damron and Evan Damron, both of Huntington;several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Ron Boon and a nephew, Alan Boon, both of Coventry, England. The family would like to express special thanks to his caregivers, Beth, Diane, and Cindy; grandchildren Robert and Joyce Ann: and the staff of Hospice of Huntington for their loving care. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. David Adkins and Pastor Buddy Muncy officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, with Military Gravesite Rites conducted by VFW Post 9738. Friends may call from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday at Chapman's Mortuary.
