Donald Lee Johnson
(June 5, 1931 - May7, 2010)



Donald Lee Johnson, 78, of Huntington, passed away Friday May 7, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born June 5, 1931 in Huntington, a son of the late James C. and Eloise Dean Johnson. His brother, James C. Johnson, Jr., also preceded him in death. Donald retired from Huntington Alloys, after 40 years, as a crane operator having worked last in the refinery. He was Methodist by faith, was a former Cabell County Constable, a Kentucky Colonel, former member of the Democratic Executive Committee, and belonged to Local 40 United Steelworkers and the INCO Quarter Century Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Elizabeth Davis Johnson; two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Wayne Perry of Barboursville, and Brenda Lee and Tony Chapman of Huntington; a son, Rocky Lee Johnson of Huntington; two grandchildren, Ronald Lee Meehling, II, his wife, Carrie Meehling, and Summer Chapman, all of Huntington. Graveside services will be conducted 1:30 PM Monday May 10, 2010 at the Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance, with Eddie Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00 PM Monday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with a procession leaving at 1:15 PM for the cemetery. The family wishes to thank Grayson Assisted Living for Don's wonderful care. Donations may be sent to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in his name.
