Emil R.
George
(October 6, 1926 - May 26, 2010)
Emil R. George, 83, of Huntington, WV, went to be
with his eternal Father Wednesday, May 26, 2010, in the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM
Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, 1-Woodhaven Drive,
Huntington, with Father John Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Spring
Hill Cemetery, Huntington, with American Legion Post 16 conducting Military
Graveside Rites. Pallbearers will be Ben Coleman, Bruce Coleman, David
Sinclair, Wyatt George, Steven Spaulding, Paul Spaulding, Karl Hager, and
Daniel Wagoner. He was born October 6, 1926 in Huntington, WV a son of the
late Samuel and Helen Tweel George. A sister, Rosalie Coleman, and a
brother, Julius George, also preceded him in death. Emil was a first
generation American whose parents emigrated from Kfeir, Lebanon. He was a
U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served during five invasions in
the South Pacific. Emil was a successful businessman and entrepreneur who
ran several businesses. He was a loving husband and father who always had a
radiant smile. He was an outgoing, humble man who treated everyone equally.
He was a member of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church. Survivors include: his
wife of 48 years, Barbara George; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and
Tom Tomkins of Sausalito, CA and Ann-Marie and Randy Clay of Chesapeake, OH;
a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Shelia George of Russell, KY; two
brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Kelly George of New York City and
Charleston, WV and Lou and Betty George of Hilton Head, SC; ten
grandchildren, Jessica, Chloe, Daniel Emil, Wyatt, John, Brittany, Stephen,
Walker, Jame`, and Logan; a great grandchild, Philly; godchildren, Chloe
Wagoner and Eric George; and a longtime friend and confidante, Marguerite
Damron. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. The family would like
to express special thanks to his favorite restaurant, Jim's, for their
kindness and to his caregivers for their loving care. Contributions may be

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Friday, May 28, 2010, at Chapman's
Mortuary, Huntington, with a Trisagion Service conducted at 8:30 PM. Dear
Emil, you are always and forever in my heart.
