Lula Salmons Bradford
(January 6, 1926 - October 3, 20130



Lula Salmons Bradford died on Thursday, October 3rd, 2013, at The Fountainview Center for Alzheimer's Disease in Atlanta, Ga. Born on January 6, 1926 in Hamlin, W.Va., she was the daughter of Oscar and Clara Moore Salmons. Her husband Arthur D. Bradford of Huntington, her sister Millie Bays (Rex) of Hamlin, a brother Homer Salmon (Phyllis) of Milton, W.Va. and a son-in-law John Bradford-Smith of Atlanta, Ga. predeceased her. Lula is survived by two daughters, Marcia Hutchinson (Ron) of Charlottesville, Va. and A. Dee Bradford-Smith of Atlanta, Ga., a granddaughter Melissa Wall (David) and a great-granddaughter Catherine Wall of Atlanta, Ga., and a brother Leonard Salmons (Ann) of Grove City, Ohio. A resident of Huntington since 1944, Lula moved to Atlanta, Ga. in 2003 to be near her daughter. In Huntington, she was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, the Modern Mothers Club and Eastern Star. For many years she was employed as a teacher at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Day Care Center of which she was a founding member. Lula's last years were blessed and enriched by the unflagging love and support of her daughter, Dee, who assumed the responsibility for the care of her mother in Atlanta. The family extends heartfelt appreciation as well to the following: the staff at The Fountainview Center, especially Sheila Meer, and Vitas Hospice of Atlanta and Larry Robert. A visitation and memorial service were held in Atlanta, Ga. at H. M. Patterson and Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on Friday, October 4th. Final arrangements are being handled by Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 7th ~ 2PM at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, W. Va., with Rev. Hubert Harvey officiating. Internment will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Friends may call after 1PM on Monday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
