Eschleman
(June 28, 1929 - October 19, 2013)
F. Joseph Eschleman, "Joe",
84, of Huntington, WV, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great
grandfather and uncle passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the
Hospice House of Huntington surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on
June 28, 1929 and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He attended OSU and was a
veteran of World War II. After being honorably discharged from active duty
Joe enlisted in the Ohio National Guard 66th Infantry Regiment Combat Team
where he served as Staff Sergeant of the motor pool at Fort Hayes, Columbus.
Mr. Eschleman was retired from C & P/Bell Atlantic Telephone Company where
he worked for 27 years. His civic service included: the Huntington City
Council (1977), the Board of Directors for the Huntington Area Chamber of
Commerce, River Cities United Way, Director of The National Alliance of
Businessmen (1972-1973), past president of the Huntington Advertising Club,
General Chairman of the sustaining membership enrollment drive for Boy
Scouts of America, past chairman of the St. Joseph Invitational Basketball
Tournament and chairman of the Veteran's Memorial Field House Authority in
Huntington. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his
sister, Nanci Komp and his son, Stephen. He is survived by his loving wife,
Jane, and five children: Thomas Eschleman, Joseph Eschleman (Pamela), Nanci
Marshall, Michael Eschleman and Mary Beaty (Michael), special
daughter-in-law, Krissy Benyamin, brother, William Eschleman and
Grandchildren: Joe Randolph, Victoria Ahrens, Michelle Eschleman, Mike
Dragovich, Christina Johnson, Christian Eschleman, Jennifer Dado; Ian,
Philip, Benjamin and Isaiah Beaty, great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Alex
and step great grandchildren, Garrett, Owen, Bella and Jack and several
nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, October 24, from 2:00 to
4:00pm and from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Chapman’s Mortuary in Huntington with
recitation of the rosary at 3:30. A funeral mass will be conducted at Our
Lady of Fatima Church at 10:30am on Friday, October 25 with burial
immediately following at Springhill Cemetery.
