Hensley
(February 4, 1911 - September 18, 2013)
Mr. Eric Forest “Happy” Hensley, 102,
widower of Shirley Roe Hensley, the mother of his children, of Chesapeake,
OH, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Funeral services will; be conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 21, 2013
at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Pastor B. Clee Egnor officiating. Burial will be
in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. He was born February 4,
1911 in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late TJ (Jeff) and Alma Walker
Hensley. In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was preceded in death
by 5 brothers and 2 sisters, along with on a grandson, James (Jimi) Harmon.
He retired as a millwright at Houdaille Industries. Eric was proud that at
102 he was still able to maintain his own home and live on his own. He
continued to drive his bulldozer and tractor until a week before his death.
He participated in Tai Chi and exercise classes at Underwood Senior Center
so recently as a week before his death. He believed that the was to keep
going was to keep going. Give him a word, he would give you back a song or
poem. If you said ”I can’t do…” be sure you would hear, “Somebody said that
it couldn’t be done, and he would likely complete the poem. He is survived
by 2 daughters and a son- in-law, Linda Harmon and Pastor B. Clee Egnor of
Culloden, WV, Gay Partlow, of Chesapeake, OH; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law,
JD and Sharon Hensley, of Huntington, Gary Hensley of Huntington, and Roger
and Patty Hensley of Proctorville, OH. Among his grandchildren are; Greg
(Connie) Harmon, Shawn (Christina) Harmon, Lance (Rachael) Partlow, Scott
(Cindy) Partlow, Crystal Partlow (John) Kruer, Kendal (Marnie) Partlow, Rob
Hensley, and Lisa Hensley (Ronnie) Cremeans; great grandchildren; Damon, Zak,
Cameron, Madison, Kendi, Kade, Jake, Jordan, and Emily.
