Obituary

Colin Russell Wilkes

It is with great sadness that the family of Colin Wilkes, 42, of Huntington, announce his passing. He passed peacefully while in Hospice Care on July 13, 2021. Colin is survived by his grandmother, Mary Lee Wilkes, of Proctorville, OH, his parents Wally and Antonia Wilkes of Huntington, Nancy and Ralph Gordon of Charles Town, WV, his siblings, Zachary (Sassa) Wilkes of Barboursville, Yuri (Aska) McCoy of Houston, TX, Mary Frances Wilkes-Froehlich (Dalton) of Charlotte, NC, his nieces and nephew, Phoebe Wilkes of Huntington, Max Nibert of Barboursville, Shaylee Wilkes of Huntington, and Riley McCoy of Houston, TX. Colin, beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, impacted the life of every single person who had the pleasure of loving him. The gentleness of his special spirit was unmatched. Nothing brought Colin greater joy than his love of music, especially when his father, Wally, broke out his guitar. His vivacious vocalizations while listening to the music of his dad and musical artist, James Taylor, is something that will not soon be forgotten. Colin was a longtime resident of the Betsy Broh House in Huntington, West Virginia, where he livened the house with the warmth of his hugs and the sound of his favorite music. Colin was the glue to his family, he will be loved and his life celebrated unceasingly. A celebration of life open to the public will be held at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, WV on Thursday, July 15, from 5-7 PM.
