Shirley E. Holley Roberts Byrd


Shirley E. Holley Roberts Byrd, 80, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at her home. She was born March 11, 1942, in Cabell County, WV a daughter of the late Shirley D. and Violet M. Brinegar Holley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin L. Roberts; her husband, Darrell Edmond Byrd, Sr.; a son, Carl O. Roberts; two sisters, Stella F. Brooks, and Alzada Shelters; and three brothers, Ralph D. Holley, Benny Joe Holley, and Paul Holley. Survivors include: two daughters, Melanie J. Roberts and Helen Carlene LaPointe, both of Huntington; a son, Franklin L. (Terri) Roberts of Poca, WV; a sister, Louise Cremeans of South Point, OH; a sister-in-law, Marlana Holley of Chesapeake, OH; a step daughter, Teresa Mahoney of Hopewell, VA; a step son, Darrell Edmond (Jay) Byrd, Jr. of Richmond, VA; four selected adopted sons, Major Myers of Huntington, Chris Shepard of Alabama, Wayne Maynard of Huntington and Dennis Mills (Caregiver) of Huntington; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, December 19, 2022, at New Beginning Apostolic Church with Pastor T. D. Mills officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour before the services Monday at the church. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
