Obituary

BETTY LOU TOPPING
(December 16, 1929 - January 22, 2015)



Betty Lou Topping passed away January 22,2014 at her home in Glenwood Park Retirement Village, Princeton, West Virginia. Betty was blessed and loved by her parents Leland and Edith Plybon Childers. She spent her early years in Huntington, West Virginia, then moved with her parents to Michigan. She later returned to West Virginia where she graduated from Wayne High School' and attended Marshall University. In 1946 Betty married Frank Topping, her beloved and devoted husband. They were blessed with loving and caring children: Roger and Becky Topping of Princeton, WV, Marsha and Jim Ingels of Mooresville, IN, and David W. Topping of Barboursville. Frank passed away December 17,2014. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Helen Parsons. Betty had four beautiful granddaughters that she adored: Karrie Ann Ingels Bias, Holly Topping Adkins, Kristene Ann Ingels McCoy, and Kimberly Beth Ingels Carlisle. She also had seven great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Emily McCoy, Kelsey McCoy, Tyler Morris, Michael Nibert, Abigail Bias, Allison Bias, Kayla Marie Carlisle. Betty had two special cousins, Linda Kuhn and Richard Berry. She loved her extended family: J.D. and Carolyn Johnson, Carroll and Nellie Templeton and Family, Bettie Keith and Neely Asbury. Betty was an active member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church in Huntington. She was humble and proud to be a member of the United Methodist Women, where she served as President for two terms. Betty worked as a teacher's aide for the Cabell County Board of Education. She was President of the Teacher's Aide's in Cabell County and also served as a member of the WV School Service Personnel Association. She was a member of the Milton Garden Club and enjoyed raising her orchids which she loved to cut and give away. Betty asked that memorial contributions be made to the Cross Roads United Methodist Women, clo Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 3146 Saltwell Road, Huntington, WV 25705. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at Cross Roads United Methodist Church at 2PM, Sunday, January 25th.
