Pearl Bailey
(May 25, 1918 - November 20, 2010)



PEARL BAILEY, 92, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Pearl was born May 25, 1918, in Dunlow, W.Va., the daughter of the late Marion and Elisia Sammons Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Bailey. Pearl was a member of Grace Gospel Church for over 60 years, the Democrat Committee Women for the West Huntington area for over 12 years, and in 2008, she was named the outstanding Democrat of West Virginia by Governor Joe Manchin. She holds the record for having never missed voting in an election for over 70 years. She is survived by her son, Bob Bailey of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Bailey Zinkand and John Zinkand of Maryland; three grandchildren, Robin Lee Bailey, Lisa Diann Bailey and Neal Kennedy; special friend, Judy Ross; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reger Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Steve Zoellar, Ottie Adkins, Scott Bias, Johnny McCallister, Nick Ciccarello, Gordon Merry and Chris Tatum.
